    We have over 30 year old vinyl siding on our house and other than initial install problems it is the best siding we ever had. Other than it faded it still looks great. We plan on going with a different color siding and we definitely will be going with vinyl siding again. Who would put on painted chipboard or cement panels on their home when you can have permanent vinyl siding.

    Wow, this is intense! The fullback insulated siding really held up under some serious stress. Impressive durability and impact resistance-definitely makes me think twice about the siding options I’m considering. Thanks for putting it to the test!

    Don't use this style particularly when doing lights. The mounting pad is WAY too small for many lights. Use AI industries has blocks that have electrical junctions built into them.

    How do you make sure that the water doesn't get in between the inner side of the coil stock trim and the edge of the window? Do you caulk these joints? The video shows that only the outside edge of the trim is caulked. Thanks

    The full cut out could be handy , but I leave part of the "45" cut on my tab down to help lock them together better... It works great, imo. But to everybody else... Not worth it.

    I just did the front of my home with Alside Prodogy insulated siding , it looks so good , it is rigid going up , I live next to a highway and wanted the sound deadening , will add storm windows to my double pane windows for even better sound deadening soon , it is so hard to find storm windows now but I did , getting my sidewalls of my home foam injected and will then cover them with the same insulated siding , this is an old 1920's balloon construction house with insulbrick , the insulbrick just makes it a little warmer when covered over with this high tech siding

      The proper depth of a vinyl siding nail is leaving a 1/4 inch gap. That what I was always taught. Works well.

    I'm trying to decide between Hardie and vinyl and uninsulated vinyl versus insulated. I my research I'm finding that people are saying insulated vinyl is almost as much as hardie, is that true?

    • @loispetersen68
      @loispetersen68 Рік тому

      Jocelyn, that is exactly what we are trying to decide. We had a hail storm last year and need to get our vinyl siding replaced. What our contractor told us is to go with insulated siding it would be a difference of $12,426 out of pocket. LP would be $19,138 (do not want LP) and Hardie would be a difference of $22,594. Honestly I like the idea of the insulated siding for the fact that it is more impact resistant and we are in an area where it does hail. But do I want to pay the price difference if our insurance company will replace our siding with regular siding with no out of pocket? Then I see a comment someone made about adding a foam insulation that has an R10 value and then put on regular vinyl siding over that. There again, will it still be a higher impact siding if we did it that way? Plus what I see on Lowe's website is a 2" X 4' X 8' R10 unsheathed unfaced polystyrene board insulation is $46.67. Not sure if this is the right stuff but doesn't look like that's inexpensive either and we have a large house. Hard to get the exact answers in our research sometimes. What did you end up going with and are you happy with it?

    • @jocelynisom2500
      @jocelynisom2500 Рік тому

      @loispetersen68 we ended up buying hardy and it's being installed now. It's 3400 sq ft so it was about 30K and the insulation bid is 18k for foam and the regular stuff

      @loispetersen68 Рік тому
